Before I zeroed in on This Island Mirth, I kicked around a bunch of other ideas for how to name and theme this blog. Naturally, there were a bunch of other obscure pop culture references, a few attempts to do something interesting using a more exotic TLD extension, and about a page-and-a-half of one or two word titles (whose .com domains, it turned out, were all already taken).

I can’t imagine this is of much interest to anyone other than me, but then, that’s kind of the whole ethos of this whole project. For better or worse, I’m committing to the retro sci-fi/clown thing. Let’s hope for the best.
